Spike Lee Pays Up After Forcing A Couple To Leave Their Home

After tweeting an address on his Twitter page saying it belonged to George Zimmerman, the man who shot the teenager in Florida, a couple was forced to leave their house fearing for their safety. The address he tweeted belonged to Elaine and David McCain, who have a son named William George Zimmerman and are in no way related to George Zimmerman.

Spike did offer up an apology and has agreed to pay an undisclosed settlement to the McCains:

“I Deeply Apologize To The McClain Family For Retweeting Their Address. It Was A Mistake. Please Leave The McClain’s In Peace.” Spike tweeted earlier this week.

I can’t even begin to imagine how scary that must have been for the McCains, they probably received a few death threats. I’m glad Spike issued the apology and compensated them for the grief he caused them.
